Discovered in Central Asia, Tulipa greigii was described by Regel in 1873. The craze about this tulip with a big red flower and such a particular shape was so immediate that breeders saw very soon that the most interesting had to come. In fact, benefiting from the natural variability of this species they start rapidly creating a lot of exceptional hybrids. Besides the very easy way of growing these prolific hybrids, we realize that this tulip is one of the most interesting for the tulip lover.
