Spring 2007 is particularly short, dry and hot, and the cycle of all the tulips of the collection is upside down. Earlier tulips foliage is fading quicker than usual and late flowering tulips are already in bloom. A lot of green grasshopers are invading the plants causing many damage. They mainly attack buds, making holes, cutting them up....
Benefit from ths dryness ? Tulips get thicker tissues, stiff, which are much less atractive for the aphids which are chasing then on the wild carrots around.
