We
have to talk about this book as it will meet expectations of botanical
tulips lovers, whether beginners or experienced. After having taking care of the Royal Botanic Garden Tulip collection in Kew, Richard Wilford shares with us his experience and the conclusions from his observations, undergired by good quality photography’s. And here we are ! A very interesting book, pleasant to read, beautiful looking. |

Going
through reading this book, we may not agree with his very personal esthetic
appreciations for such variety or such species, and to have partly ignored
the work done by his Swiss, French and before all, Dutch colleagues.
It is a bit astonishing to read that according to this author the only
monograph to exist and dedicated to botanical tulips is the one written
by A. D. Hall and his famous "The genus Tulipa" published
in 1940 ? As a result of this we find some mistakes in identification
of many species or in the validity or some of the mentioned Latin names. |

Nevertheless,
“TULIPS : Species and hybrids for the gardener”
is a voucher book. |
